DBT For Adolescents Group

Next Start Date: November 19th,  from 6:00pm-8:00pm

We have commenced a program designed to treat the adolescent presentation of BPD behaviors following the model of A. Miller and J. Rathius from New York. Ages Served:  14 – 17 years (exceptions maybe considered).

We start with a minimum 24 week commitment (6 months) with the option to continue as long as the client finds it helpful. The 24 weeks is the minimum amount of time recommended with the treatment protocol.

A commitment of up to one year is not unusual.

Therapy consists of individual weekly sessions and phone coaching; plus 15 weeks of concurrent 2 hour weekly DBT skills classes (with at least one parent attending with the student).

Therapy includes phone coaching and family sessions (if required) with the focus being on the individual adolescent client, using therapy to learn and integrate better coping strategies and emotion regulations skills.

It is not unusual that the parents may need to have their own sessions with either the child's therapist or another therapist on the team.
